I am such a slacker!
I am dropping the ball on keeping up with my blog and my blogging buddies.
Please accept my sincere apologies!!
We seem to catch ourselves coming and going.
You got it - softball season has begun!
We have had games every night this week and have had to split the responsibility of the games depending on location. Gabby is on varsity again this year and Abbs is on JV. Abby was very happy that she is on JV. It means that she will get to catch A LOT of games before the summer season begins. Her team has played 4 games and she has caught 3 of them. Gabby is working on slap hitting from the left side. But they did let her swing away from the right side at last night's game when bases were loaded - she scored 2 RBI's on that one :}
Their teams had have their good games and their bad games.
They have moved the pitchers mound back 3 feet from 40 feet to 43 feet.
It was felt that the teams would be more competitive.
It gives the batter more time to see the ball which results in more home runs.
We saw 3 in one game.
We have seen very high scoring games this week.
11-1, 13-10, 12-2, 11-4 and 20-10.
We are going to chose to not talk about the 12-2 & 20-10 games thank you very much :}
We get a break tomorrow but have double headers on Saturday with both girls at the same time. Should be interesting to see how I will watch two games at once!
I have been putting in many hours at work each week and am exhausted by the time I am done for the day. It continues to shock me the amount of cakes that go out the door each week. Today was crazy busy with our temperatures in the 80's for the first time this season. We would have 45 minute stints of floods of people. Round 3 was starting when I left. None of us got lunch today so that will tell you something as well.
Our kids are out for Easter break tomorrow and all next week.
I kind of feel bad that I will have to work much of the time but Abby does want to help me so she can earn some money. My boss doesn't mind because she is basically becoming familair with the place and he won't have to teach her when she starts working next year. Gabby is working tonight and tomorrow night until close. She is covering for someone tonight so she will earn some extra cash on her next paycheck. She is enjoying the freedom of having her own cash and so are we :}
We discussed her spending habits with her and want her to start good habits early so she is saving 20%, tithing 10% and the rest is hers to spend if she wants to. She is good with that and we will be happy to see her savings for college going up. She is still enjoying her car and her new found freedom. I am enjoying not having to take them to and from school. I have found some of my freedom as well :}
Edris has been more active with her friends.
Tonight she is at the school's track meet (or meeting as she calls it) and choral concert.
Last week she went to the band concert and went with us on Sunday to see Bill's nieces get baptized. I am glad she has been able to get out as we are not always home to be with her.
Sunday will see us at my folk's house enjoying all the kiddos.
We always spend Easter with my side of the family.
Grandpa is in charge of placing all the eggs but Grandma is in charge of color coding.
Each child has his or her own color.
This is the only way for it to be fair and for everyone to get the same amount :}
The eggs get returned to Grandma before we leave to be used again next year.
Yes, Grandma is slightly OCD.
I think I take after her just a little bit - ahem....
Time for me to call it a night.
For some reason I am caught up in the slam dunk competition.
I think it is because one of the guys is from Bradley University which is all of 15 minutes from our house.
Enjoy your evening!
