HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!!

Saturday is my dad's birthday. So in honor of my pops, this post is dedicated to the best dad in the whole world. As you can see, he loves his grandkids! He would do anything for his kids and grandkids. Including taking my girls out of his boat to do some "fishing". There was only one or two unlucky fish that got caught any time that we would go out but grandpa loved to do it!! You can be assured that sometime tomorrow my girls will be giving grandpa a call to sing to him in the most off key voice that they have (a tradition that dad started years ago - he sings happy birthday to each and everyone of us). So it is only polite to return the favor, right?!

So, here's to you dad! Thanks for the hugs, kisses, spankin's, driving lessons, advice, and love. Your the best pop tart maker ever (and some times frozen pizza). We never feared that we would go hungry if mom was not home - which was VERY rare!! YOUR THE BEST!!!!!!!

I LOVE YOU!

Jeanette

PS - just so you know, the brunette in the pics is my neice, Katelyn (Julie's daughter). The blonde is my oldest, Gabby. The boy is my nephew, Austin. The baby is my younger sister's daughters, Kendra (in the honey pot costume) and Alyson. Alyson has a twin sister that looks just like her so it could be Jenna instead of Alyson. I can't tell them apart in pictures from 7 years ago!! Most of the pictures are from a long time ago as my kids have not gotten on Grandpa's lap for at least 10 years :}

Back to school dance!

My girls go back to school on Monday. And from all the screaming I hear coming from outside, some other mothers will be thrilled when Monday rolls around too. I have decided that I will be doing this dance on Monday! Any other moms out there ready to join me?!

Pedicures, MRI's and hip replacements

The girls and I were scheduled for a pedicure this morning. Abby decided she did not want one so she stayed home. Here is a great shot of the results!

I got the french manicure to match my nails. Gabby got a really cute design on her fingers too. And, of course, Abby has the flip flops with socks on - what a fashion statement. I think she wishes that she had gotten her toes done too. Poor Kristen sounds like she had a rough day getting her beauty makeover. I could have sat in that chair all day but they made me move along.

OK, so about 4-6 weeks ago Gabby hurt herself playing softball. She pulled her groin muscle and was out of play for a few weeks. No big deal as she had a few weeks until she played at nationals. Well, last night she went out for a short run and came back injured again. She had pulled the same muscle out jogging. So, we decided she should probably have it looked at. A call to the orthopaedic place this morning actually resulted in an appointment today. This was a shocker as usually it is at least a week before they can get you in and I thought I would have to use the "well I know Dr. so and so personally do I need to call his wife" question. We got in to see one of the other drs. and ended up seeing his physicians assistant which was fine - at least we got to see someone. Anyway, they did an xray and we got to see the results immediately - which is REALLY cool if you have never been able to see the results on a computer screen. The PA thought it was just tendenitis and that rest and zero sports for the next 6 weeks would probably do the trick along with ice, heat, stretching and to get going on a physical therapy/flexology program. About 5 minutes after we left the office, we got a call that the doctor wanted her to come back for an MRI tomorrow. Please pray for her as she will not be able to tryout for volleyball (tryouts are tomorrow). She was disappointment about it but realizes that missing one season is nothing if she continues to be injured. Also, please pray that this will not require surgery - she starts her freshman year on Monday!!
After we left the drs office she told me what happened while she was getting xrayed. She was giggling so I knew this would be good. She said there was a guy getting xrayed in the "room" next to hers. Her xray lady was talking and said "It looks like you will need a full hip replacement." The lady came back into the room and looked at Gabby's extremely frightened face and asked if she was ok. Her answer: I need a full hip replacement?! The lady laughed and said "No, but the guy in the next room does!" By the time she returned to the room she was only slightly freaked. That's my girl :}

Softball......again?

Abby is back to playing softball. She made her middle school "A" team a few weeks ago so we are back to playing/practice every day except Sunday. She had a tournament on Saturday. Her first game was against a team that won state last year. I thought for sure we would get whipped but they actually played well and the other team bombed big time. Apparently, they graduated all their really good girls and had to start over (much like our team).

I laughed because there are some girls on her team that have never actually played softball before. How they made the team I will never know except for the fact that they had just enough girls to field two teams so they kept everyone. She is the best player on the team - I am not just being bias. She was the only girl on her team that played travel ball this past summer so she saw some serious pitching and can hit off the faster pitchers. All the girls pick up the same bat that she uses in hopes that they will hit well too. She hit an in the park homerun tonight. YIPEE! Their team won 12-0. This is not to say that their team is really that good but that the other team was really that bad :{ At least it was good batting practice for our girls. Tomorrow they face a wicked rough team and I am sure the score will be the other way around.

Tomorrow morning the three of us are getting pedicures! I am so excited! I love, love, love pedicures. We have not had the pleasure of getting much pampering this summer and with the girls going back to school on Monday (YIPEE) we really needed to connect and get those pedicures done this week.

Abby gets her school schedule on Wednesday and Gabby has volleyball tryouts on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. Friday she has freshman orientation. I know she was just in kindergarten last year. How is she a freshman already?! She has mixed emotions about the whole growing up thing. As do I.

Well, I have a huge headache/migraine coming on so I should probably wrap it up for tonight (and also the reason that I have no sense of humor tonight). Keep watch for our first day of school picture. It is a must for our kids too and they are never to old for that picture!!

Hugs to all :}
