Volleyball, a nap & dinner

Yet another weekend of volleyball.

Gabby has another tourney this weekend but at least today it only lasted until about noon. We got home, ate lunch and I took a nap.

My DH and I went downstairs to watch tv. We cranked up the little heater and hunkered down for a sweet afternoon of rest. I think I slept off and on for 2 hours. It. was. heaven.!

We took the girls out to Panera for dinner and came right back home.

We don't really do anything for the big V-day. Like many others, I just don't see it as that important and with the economy as it is, I'm not spending big bucks on candy and chocolate that we just don't need.

Gabby finishes her v-ball tourney tomorrow. My DH is going to take care of her so that Abby and I can get to church. We have lunch with our care group after church so we will get home about 2:30. Hubs is going to take them to softball practice (they practice in a high school gym during the winter) in the evening. I'll probably clean the basement and maybe do the grocery run so that Monday will be a lighter day.

We got some snow last night but it is pretty much gone tonight. We were very spoiled with the gorgeous weather we had this past week. We are all itching for spring to come already. For February being such a short month, it always seems to last FOREVER!

I must give a shout out to Jen over at Dust Bunny Hostage. My DH loves the large heart candies that only come out for Valentines. He loves the Brach's brand but for some reason, we can't find them in our necka the woods. Anyway, Jen actually posted about them last week and bless her heart - found some and sent them our way. He got them today and was thrilled! We had forgotten to check the mail when we got home from volleyball. After dinner my DH commented on not being able to find the Brach's hearts anywhere. He wondered if Dollar General would have them because Krogers, CVS, Walgreens and Walmart didn't. I was smiling because I had grabbed the mail before we left for dinner and there was a package in there that I knew held the hearts that he wanted. So, Jen - THANK YOU! You made his day and is a happy camper :}

I know, it is the simple things in life that make us smile :}

And, Kendra girl - yes, we have completed our taxes and have actually received one of our returns yesterday. We try to get them done the first of February but I didn't get the state one done until this week. I figured we better get them done early so that we actually get the money back. You just can't tell with our government right now. With the state of IL so deeply in debt, we are just praying we get our return back.

Yep, we have a boring life. Sorry no fun things to post about tonight. Maybe tomorrow will bring a spark to this boring blog - you just never can tell!

Hugs,
Jeanette

What is up with customers?!

Today was a day filled with crazy customers! It is almost humorous.....

Customer #1

Can I get a petite cake today? - Nope, but you can get one tomorrow.
If I can't get a petite cake, can I get a pack of cupcakes? - Yep, we have 1 flavor at the moment.

Customer #2

Can I get a cupcake? - Well, they are sold in packs of 6.
But I only need one? - That one cupcake will cost you $9.99 and comes with 5 friends.

Customer #3

Can I get an assortment of cupcakes? - Yep, we have an assortment available.
Ok, I want 6 different flavors. - No, you can get two each of the three available flavors but not 6 different cupcakes with 6 different flavors.

Customer #4

This cake has too much graham cracker crumbing on the side. Can I get one without so much crumbing? - Sure, come back tomorrow and pick it up. (She decided that the one she got was just fine.)

Customer #5

Can I get a menu to take out to the car for my husband? Poor Ty got this customer, he turned the store upside down looking for a printed menu. Yes, he found one!

Customer #6

Via phone. I want to talk with a manager NOW! - There is no manager in the store right now. Can I get a message to him?

NO! I will tell you want is going on! - OK.

I ORDERED A CAKE AND PAID FOR IT, MY SON CAME IN TO PICK IT UP AND YOU CHARGED HIM AGAIN! - OK, calm down. Let me go talk to the other gal and I'll be right back.

FINE!

I talk with Morgan. She only had one customer pick up a cake - refer to customer #4.

Returning to the phone - What store did your son pick up the cake at? - Turns out it was not our store but the other store that is owned by the same guy. I gave her the other phone number and the name of the manager to ask for. Plus, I asked that she not get upset with the other store but to explain that she had already paid for the cake and then was recharged. They will make it right!

So there you have it! Our day with C.R.A.Z.Y. customers. We have been inundated with cake orders. The cake display is full because they all want the same cake. The sweet strawberry romance is new and a huge hit for Valentine's day. I'm not sure anyone is going to want it after Valentine's but I am praying that we have enough made to make it through. Most of them want the small cake so we have been banging them out. Tomorrow will be my day to complete all the extra cakes that we will have available for all those last minute people. One of the day shift gals is coming in early to work on cupcakes. We made 16 - 6 packs yesterday. There are 4 packs left today. The boss man picked up 2 cases of chocolate cups that will make 32 - 6 packs. We are hoping to make it through to Wednesday when we get another truck delivery. We don't know if they will continue to have cupcakes after March but they are a huge hit so I can't imagine that they would stop them.

Well, my kids are still up and they need to get to bed - 7am comes early when we aren't in bed until 10:30ish. Catch ya'll later!

Hugs,

Jeanette

The stuff that life is made of....

Sorry I have been A.W.A.L. again!

Life has been crazy the last few days. Tonight I am finally able to sit down and get some rest. The kitchen still needs to be cleaned but it will wait until tomorrow. Because of my exhausting weekend I did not get the whole house cleaned yesterday (I know - shocking!).

Sunday was a full day of travel and club volleyball. Gabby and I had a good time but we were exhausted when we finally got home! We got up at 5am and left by 6am. We got home at 10pm. Gabby still had a little bit of homework to finish. Don't feel bad for her - she had time to get it done and she didn't do it. Her fault!

Our lives are full of volleyball games. Abby's team had a match last night and again tonight. Thursday brings yet another one. Gabby's team has another tourney this weekend but at least that one is in our town. Not sure if my back is going to make it. I'm thinking of taking a heating pad with me :}

Work is crazy this week. I have a wall full of special order cakes plus I need to make more cupcakes. They are a hit!!! One of the day shift gals went in on Saturday and made a ton of them and we only have 2 flavors left and assorted is all gone too. Speaking of cupcakes. Is anyone watching this season's Biggest Loser? It is a really good one!

Time to go pick up Gabby. I'm going to get back home and get into my jammies and hit the couch for the night.

Hugs all!

Jeanette
