I accept this award .... What is that stench?

My sister, Julie, nominated me for this award. I am humbled, touched and I want to thank the academy for nominating me....

Oh, sorry! I got carried away, what with looking like Eva Longoria Parker (see previous posts) and receiving an award I thought I was in Hollywood :}

So I am supposed to spread the love with other bloggers so here are the rules etc.

1. Put the logo on your blog.
2. Add a link to the person who awarded it to you.
3. Nominate at least 5 other blogs.
4. Add links to these blogs on your blog.
5. Leave a message for your nominee on their blog.

And the winners are:

1. Mama Belle
2. Sarah
3. Gina
4. Meg
5. Patrice

I love to read about all these wonderful ladies! If you haven't read their blogs yet, grab something cold to drink and have some fun.

So, on to real life....

Last night my hubs and eldest daughter got home from St. Louis. We were hoping that they would play really well and at least get thru today but nope. They lost their first two games in tourney play so they got to come home early.

Gabby got right upstairs and started to empty everything out. I walked into her room and about died. "What is that stench?" She just looked at me like I was an alien or something. "I don't smell anything" was her reply. I tell you it about made my eyes water. It seems that everything in her suitcase was wet with sweat so EVERYTHING was stinky. Soooooo, today I am working on laundry and getting everything put away.

Here she is last night after emptying her suitcase.

Sometimes she can be so happy other times, ah, not so much. Life with 2 teen girls :} Here is a picture of her whole softball team. They had just won a tournament that qualified them to play at nationals.

Even though they did not do as well as we had hoped, we are still so proud of them! Good job girls!!!! (Gabby is the first one on the left, back row)

Rest well this weekend, girls, we have a busy week coming up.

Blessings,
Jeanette

Cold Stone, Friday's and Lawn Mowing

That is right folks! Abby and I spent the day at softball practice, doing the laundry, making 11 cakes at Cold Stone and having dinner out at TGI Friday's (notice Abby enjoying her cheeseburger and fries). After an enjoyable dinner, we headed home to get the yard mowed. YIPEE! It is into the showers and ready for bed.

Bill and Gabby are still in St. Louis so I have not had to cook all week and leftovers are getting old so we enjoyed going out to dinner at Friday's. We went early and got right in and out.

Apparently St. Louis got about 3 inches of rain yesterday and the softball fields were still a mess today so they decided to bring in helicopters to help to dry the fields. Have you every heard of such a thing? I could not believe they would do such a thing! Wow - guess it pays to make it to nationals. They break out all the frills :}

OK, completely off subject. Have any of you watched The Middleman on ABC Family on Monday nights? It is a really different show - almost scifi-ish but really funny. I want their cell phone ringtone for my phone!

Oh, I almost forgot. My new earrings got delivered today. I love them! Check out freshgems.etsy.com. She makes fun earrings. Jo-Lynne got be hooked. Thanks girl!

Not much other news today so I'll get onto paying bills and getting some Bible reading done.

Blessings,
Jeanette

My Look-Alike?!

MyHeritage: Family trees - Genealogy - Celebrities - Collage - Morph

Yeah - right!

Got this from Sarah. I am laughing at the possibility of looking anything like Eva Longoria! She is gorgeous and I am just me - plain and simple - not Hollywood glam. Well, it is good for a laugh anyway.

Enjoy your day!

Will I need an electric converter in St. Louis?

I think my kids need to get back to school. Mostly because I continue to get silly questions out of Gabby. She is packing for her trip to St. Louis. She asked Abby if she would need a converter while in St. Louis. Abby just laughed and reminded her that she would still be in the US. I realize that she does not get out of Illinois very often but really! I think she has spent too much time in the sun this summer.

That is all for today!

Do Asian carp come from Russia?

Yep, you guessed it. Another question from Gabby. We were eating dinner last night at a great local steakhouse. Abby picked this restaurant as a reward for getting all A's on her final report card. The restaurant sits on the Illinois river. We started talking about the boats and the river and Bill mentioned that there were Asian carp in the river. Gabby asks "Do Asian carp come from Russia?"

My answer.

Yep! Of course they do, where else would they come from? Well, maybe Asia?!

She keeps us on our toes that girl of ours!!

Our weekend has been pretty low key. We love to keep things simple over the weekend because we are so busy during the week. So today I told the girls we needed get the cars washed. Abby's response: "Is it optional?"

Sure, as long as I have the option of NOT taking you to softball tryouts this week!

She got the hint and helped but was not happy about it.

Come on - I spend the majority of my time hauling kids from one place to the next and she wants car maintainance to be optional?! AAAAAHHHHHHHH!

Gabs and Bill are headed to St. Louis for her team's softball national tournament this week while Abby has tryouts for her school softball team. She is in 8th grade and they play softball in the fall so we will be playing ball into September. All that said so that you will know that I may not have many funny things to write about with Gabby gone for a few days.

Sounds like we are in for some rain tonight. Just praying that I won't be forced out of bed rudely by the tornado sirens like last week. On the up side, with all the rain we have gotten this year, we have not had to water the yard.

Blessings!
