Teenagers are funny.....

Our last softball tourney was yesterday and it was a LONG day! Abby's school team has had a rough season but they did battle yesterday in their first game of the tourney and came out on top. They beat the other team in an international tiebreaker. At the end of each game, each team gives a member of the other team a "player of the game" trophy. Abby got it for hitting a home run! Here she is with what she calls her "gold action figure". Her coach just laughs at that description!

My hubs was happy to hear that they did bring home some hardware in receiving the 4th place trophy. Which sounds really good except for the fact that they only won 1 game in 3 and they lost the last two by the 10 run rule. OUCH!!

Today was the kick off date for our new church. IT WAS AWESOME! We had over 600 people, including children on our first day. It was incredible to see all the people in the theatre. We have been working on this day for the last two years and to see so many new people was simply awesome!! Only God can work in the hearts of those that were with us today. Me and the girls were happy to work in the nursery on this first Sunday. I worked in the infant room with 14 babies. YIKES!! The girls worked in the toddler room and they had 9 kiddos in that room. I got to sit and rock a sweetie to sleep.

Abby actually made the basketball team (how good is this team gonna be?) she has NEVER played basketball before EVER! This is the result of a new middle school in our district that has split the previous middle school to half the size it was last year. This means that all the sports teams are struggling to get enough kids to play (one of the reasons they said they needed another school is because they have to turn so many kids away from sports each year) and are having a hard time having even an average season. At least the schools are academically excellent. This is the most important thing anyway.

Gabby has a dress for homecoming in a few weeks. She will be going with some girlfriends. She had a huge meltdown last weekend. The conversation went something like this.......

She heard that so and so was going to ask her to homecoming.

OK, well that is great but you are 14.

Dating age is 16.

TEARS......TEARS.......TEARS

All my friends have dates..........
(parents rolling eyes here because this argument always works right?!)

Why are you getting so upset about something that has not happened yet?
The kid has not even asked you yet?

Tears and run to the bathroom.......

It was almost comical except that this was all happening in a restaurant.

We have a history of making a scene at this restaurant.

When the girls were small they were both being horrible on my only day out of the house that whole week. We were desperately trying to just get our food and get out. Abby kept turning around and stealing food of the table behind us. This act is was got us kicked out running out of the restaurant.

I'm thinking that striking this restaurant from our restaurant list is probably a good move on our part and I'm sure the restaurant will send us a thank you note!

Now, looking back a week later, Gabby is laughing about it.....
